The difference between industrial oxygen and medical oxygen

Nov 08, 2022 Leave a message

The composition of oxygen varies. Industrial oxygen is often contaminated with impurities, whereas medical oxygen boasts superior quality with a minimum purity level of 93%. Medical oxygen appears colorless, odorless, and contains fewer harmful impurities.

The usage scopes of medical oxygen and industrial oxygen differ significantly. Medical oxygen, also referred to as dry oxygen, is specifically designed for clinical medical purposes. Its primary application lies in preventing and treating hypoxia in patients. On the other hand, industrial oxygen is explicitly used in industrial production and the processing of various products.

The discrepancy lies in the moisture content. When it comes to oxygen for medical purposes, the water content must be exceptionally low. This stringent requirement exists because even the slightest trace of water can trigger oxidation of iron, leading to severe harm if inhaled by the human body. On the other hand, oxygen intended for industrial applications has no strict criteria regarding water content, as it caters solely to industrial processes.
